- Ceremony. From Wednesday 17th February, those getting married can now have 40 people in attendance for their wedding ceremony (from 20), as long as 2 metre social distancing is adhered to. This is applicable to both venue and outdoor weddings.
- Reception. The new numbers/Jersey wedding guidance does not transfer to your wedding reception, however. Any celebration after your ceremony would have comply with current public health measures. Considering it is still an offence to gather in groups of more than 10 people whether indoors, outdoors or in person’s home or garden, many couples may therefore consider getting married in front of their loved ones now, and then hosting a party later in the year (or once restrictions subside).
Before proceeding with the adjustment in numbers you should consider whether the size of the venue/area can safely allow physical distancing rules. Also, it is important to remember that within the 40 person limit you will not only have your guests to include, but also your celebrant, photographer .. and of course, you two! Venue staff however, are not included in your 40 limit.
Further to this, in line with current public health guidance, singing (and the use of wind and brass instruments) is strongly discouraged both indoors and outdoors. Also, mask wearing for all guests is compulsory (so make sure you/your venue has a few spare masks available!)
Whilst it is not currently possible to put an end date on the pandemic, we should remember that love is not cancelled. Soon the whirlwind of postponements, cancellations and frustration will be no more, and we will be back to celebrating with those we love again!
